If you like a tactic, use it. Test it and see it if suits your style or not.
When it comes to initial approaches, i open in a variety of different ways. Today, i opened a girl walking off the bus by just making a comment about how the weather’s changed drastically lately while keeping strong eye contact.
Another, i opened by telling her that she looked like a stunt double for trinity in the matrix.
It really doesn’t matter what you open with, just as long as you get the conversation rolling.
Hell, the universal opener comes to mind. 
I’d bust on them, and gain rapport with them. It’ll at least let you try out multiple techniques 
It’ll also gain you a pretty good chunk of experience to your calibration ability
